Holiday Miracle? Or, Smart Business?
I’m really, REALLY excited.
It’s Friday, my kids and I are going to have some fun later today, but for now, I wanted to share a fantastic story with you.
It’s about FREE Publicity.
It’s about someone getting off their keyster and taking action (well, he DID have to make one phone call!).
It’s about what YOU can do once a month in 2010 and never spend one dime on getting it done.
My good friend and ClearPath Society Member, Dr. John “Jack” Wightman, has had some fantastic success with using PR for his practice.
Or, watch it here:
It’s Jack, in his office. He was featured on his local TV station in Sioux Falls. Cost? Zero.
You can imagine his phones aren’t silent right now. They’ve been ringing off the hook!
Did you like the nice touch one of his patients added to it? (AWESOME)
My challenge to you: Can you take something from my BLOG, given to you for free, and do this?
HECK YA!
Jack made a phone call to his local TV station and said, “Hey, I’ve got a great human interest story for you…” The rest is, history, as they say.
It’s no holiday miracle. Just SMART business.
You know, when you get featured like this in the media, NO ONE, not even the entrenched, 20+ year experienced dentist, can compete with you. It’s a whole new level. Like Jack said to me on the phone earlier this week, “When people see you featured in the media along this angle, they don’t treat you with suspicion.” He’s 100% right.
They respect you.
They want to do business with you.
They want to be PART of something far greater than themselves.
But, you’ve got to take that first step.
It’s similar to something I worked on earlier this week. Tuesday night, I spent 2 and a half hours at a local real estate agent’s office, Ned Baker Realty, stuffing boxes for Salem’s OPERATION LOVEBOX. Ned’s retired, but his son, John Baker, keeps things going for him. John’s a great guy. He’s VERY pro “troops.” Ned, his dad, is retired military. John never served, but, he gives like you wouldn’t believe, to support our Oregon Troops abroad. Much of it out of his own pocket, John bought enough “stuff” to fill 675 priority mail BOXES with goodies for our troops overseas. The postage alone, from my quick math, was over $8,700. The goods inside each box, had to be at least that much in the quantities John purchased them in. In some cases, great local businesses around here donated stuff. Like George Puentes’ Don Pancho Tortillas – George donated over 600 packages of Gorditas!
It was awesome to be a part of it. I bet there were over 100 people stuffing boxes in John’s office. IMAGINE how this helps John’s business! (I can tell you though, that is NOT his motive!) I was even twittering about it!
Anyway – I want you to think outside the box. Or, even inside it. See what YOU can do for your community that can also create press coverage for your business.
This kind of stuff is great, because, everyone wins!
Adios. And, Happy Holidays!
