The Business Anarchist

I was recently accused of being a (or the) Business Anarchist. At first, I was taken aback (not offended, because I hadn’t really thought about it). What is a Business Anarchist? When I asked my business partner what he meant when he threw the accusation at me, he defined it in two different ways:

business an·ar·chist n

1.            an entrepreneur who rejects the traditional path in business and proposes sound, proven alternatives (That’d most certainly be me.)

2.            an entrepreneur who tries to instill in other entrepreneurs an unlikely system of business or behaves in a generally rebellious manner and encourages others to explore the same (Again, most definitely, me.)

After he explained, I was flattered of the accusation! His definition truly fit my behaviors. He was right on the money. And, it’s stuck ever since then.

You see, I get extremely frustrated seeing business owners with great ideas, great products or services, languishing, dying on the vine, never ever really experiencing the success that’s so close, and with small tweaks to their daily actions and thought process, would be within their reach in a matter of hours, days or at worst, weeks.

I have always been the kind of person that actually enjoyed taking a different route to the top. It started early. When I was 10 years old, while most of my friends were interested in playing the latest Atari® video game, or growing their new collection of the first-released music CDs, I was out creating my first business…a lawn care business that did $100s of dollars each week! I was RICH!
